My name is Erin Forde and I have worked in the field of adult education for over 20 years designing, developing, and facilitating a wide variety of adult learning/instructional design programs in a variety of sectors. For over 10 years I was the manager and lead curriculum developer/instructor for the joint educational project between George Brown College and the Labour Council of Toronto and York Region Labour Studies Program. I have also been the designer and lead instructor for Train the Trainer programs for Canadian Auto Workers, Canadian Labour Congress, and the Firefighters Association of Ontario.
I have a solid applied knowledge of instructional frameworks including ADDIE, SAM, Morrison Kemp, as well as others. I have a high degree of creativity that supports me in developing learning programs based on human brain architecture to scaffold learning. This also enables me to target the objectives of engagement to the needs of the learner and organization. I have extensive experience in incorporating sound instructional design methodologies to create complex and innovative instructional materials and learning solutions such as guided discovery, case method, problem-based, game-based, simulation, demonstration, and competency-based approaches.
I am known for creating instructional strategies that focus on the affective domain to motivate intrinsic growth in learners as well as knowledge retention. Grounding my work in the theory of episodic memory has led to the best opportunities for engagement and knowledge retention. I have extensive experience in developing mixed, multi-media blended learning that includes instructor led, virtual, augmented reality, and web-based deliverables course content. My background enables me to understand the complexities of developing learning programs that suit the needs of an organization. It also allows me to combine various Adult Education principles and theories to create dynamic learning that engages, motivates, and encourages learners.
I am very experienced in developing assessment tools and rubrics to measure metrics. I have also created several assessment tools primarily focused on needs determination that identify gaps in strategic planning for learning and training. I often create rubrics for assessment so learners have opportunities to create their own individual learning paths.
I am highly skilled in a variety of software to develop content, storyboards, user guides, and tutorials. This includes Google Tools, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Articulate Storyline and Rise, Krita, H5P, iSpring, Vyond, and Animaker, Captivate, Camtasia, SAP Litmos, and Blackboard and I have a high aptitude for learning software applications.
